Hi! This is Souvik and here at Ocean Waves, they think of me as an aquascaper. Well, that is true, but it was long, long back that I realized that one needed to be an artist to be an aquascaper. My journey began in 2013 - a time when the aquarium industry was not as proper and modern as it is today and the idea and concept of aquariums here was limited to a tank with a light and filter with two gold fishes swimming in it. Most aquascaping products and natural elements were not easily available and thus, there existed a common lack of interest in aquariums!
If there was one thing I understood, it was that the people here in West Bengal did have interest in aquariums but the lack of accessibility and availability to proper, natural elements to build a stunning aquarium was what held them back. It was then that I decided that I would make sure that the people here got everything they could think of when it came to aquariums and anything related to it! Having studied botany, working with aquariums, terrariums and both land and water ecosystems sat really well with me. Aquascapes have always inspired me. My inspiration? Definitely the work of Takashi Amano. The time he spent studying the Amazon made him a significant entity in the aquascaping community and my biggest inspiration. Besides him, I have drawn a lot of inspiration from mother nature herself. I think it is the constant appreciation of beautiful landscapes that I have felt the urge to recreate those scenic visuals within aquariums. I have been traveling a lot throughout all these years and at a number of different occasions I have had to come to complete standstills to absorb what Mother Nature was throwing at me! I have understood that imparting knowledge about nature with other people and helping them appreciate nature is what could ignite their interest in aquascapes and miniature landscapes! I decided to bring everything under one roof.
Over time, with quite some hard-work and perseverance, I have been able to build Ocean Waves - the ultimate paradise for aquarium lovers. I figured that it was important to help people out in understanding the different aspects of aquariums so that they can make a clear and precise decision about what exactly they want! What started as a small aquarium company, now operates all across India providing a number of different services that include everything aquarium!
